Peter Mannox

 

  • WW11 Veteran (Royal Navy) Peter, tells his story from when the war began as a fourteen year old lad who ran away to sea leaving his mum in tears, he sailed to North Africa in a convoy delivering supplies on a merchant ship.

    At the age of 16 he joined the Royal Navy and served on HMS Belfast as signalman and describes the extreme weather conditions on board during the protection of the North Atlantic Russian Convoys.

    Peter gives an emotional description of the sinking of the German Battle Cruiser Scharnhorst and the D-Day landings.

He relays his story from past memories of an innocent young man thrown into war, death, and destruction like so many others during that period

Peters story is very emotional and moving.
