- Ann was originally from Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire
England.
Ann tells her story of the time during the Second World War, starting
from where she was when war was announced.
Ann talks about her involvement serving the US servicemen at
the Royston Red Cross Canteen.
The friendships she made with the US servicemen during that
period.
Her volunteering for service in the Royal Navy (Wrens) and
the tragic loss of her brother John Shattock, a flight crew
member of RAF Bomber Command.
Ann, a resident of the nearby village of Steeple Morden, which
is also featured in this documentary, has lived there since
the 1950's
Ann’s story covers the happy and sad moments of that
time which were very common amongst many families during the
War.
